Sabra Comins has always been drawn to the art of writing, not just for the text alone, but for its inclusion in the fine arts. As a visual and literary artist, she considers the practice of each to be integral for deepening the practice of both. As an Artist in Residence with The Arts Center (Corvallis, OR 2019-2020), Sabra published A Glimpse Within, a chapbook of letters, and created a series of abstract maps. She has since shown at open, juried, and invitational shows and taught workshops. Sabra is passionate about maintaining a sustainable studio practice and likes to think of her work as an ecological system where many facets, such as her family history, interactions with nature, and art mediums are all living components within a larger system. She earned a Masters in Environmental Management from Portland State University in 2000.
